9 Mile to 14 Mile Rouna Road Upgrade
The existing 9-mile to Sogeri 2-lane road was first constructed in the 60s by Australians. It was a crucial route that linked the Koiari people and Kokoda track to the main CBD. It had several sealing upgrades over the years by various contractors.
With the growing population and expanding demographic movements, In 2017, NCDC via its planning and "Need for Roads" studies decided to upgrade this significant road within the city's boundary to a 4-lane urban-class arterial Road. In 2019, NCDC secured funding via a BSP loan arrangement and placed the 9 Mile to 14 Mile Road Project on tender through the CSTB.
MOBILE WORKS LIMITED was awarded the contract after scoring high with both financial and technical scores together with the overall price which was the second lowest bid value. Although a young, Papua New Guinean contractor, the quality of the work on-site amplifies the intent to deliver with quality.
We here at SAP & ASSOCIATES were honoured to have been given the responsibility to undertake Investigation, Engineering, Design and Documentation on this significant Road Project. From the 60s to now, we are privileged to be a part of this historical road's facelift.
